Hello and welcome to today’s video. My name is Sukh Sidhu and I am the founder of onlinefitnessbusiness.com and in today’s video, I’m going to talk to you about three kinds of efforts you can put in to make three different kinds of money from a fitness business.
So if you’re an online personal trainer, online fitness coach, online pilates instructor, online nutrition coach, fitness professional, whatever you may do. If you help people with their health, their fitness, their wellness, and you want to do that online with personal training clients all over the world, then in this video, I’m gonna talk to you about making more money from building your online personal training business.

Okay, so with all that said, here’s what we’re going to focus on in today’s video
The three types of money that I want to help you make form your fitness business are: now getting money now, getting money soon, and long term money
I will talk to you about where you should be focusing your energy, your efforts and your time depending on which of those you need.
Number one, get money now number two, get money soon, and three, create compounding long term money.
The reality is we need to do a bit of all three so that we can enjoy a bit of all three.
But some of you are in specific situations right now maybe you are broke and you need to get clients through the door yesterday, in which case the get money now is going to be the most relevant for you and I would ignore everything else.
Maybe you’re doing okay, but you’re planning for a big intake of clients maybe in January. So this video is being filmed on the first of November 2019. You may not be watching get on that date, obviously, I’m gonna talk about that soon as well.
So maybe you’ll get him ready for a huge launch, whether it’s in January, whether it’s you know, just in a few weeks, we can talk about what you need to be doing where you need to be to be focusing your energy to make sure that that intake goes as planned and you don’t just open up spaces, or try and push for clients and nothing happens.
And then number three, long term money, how do we invest time and effort into things that are going to compound over time and lead towards building a scalable genuinely large online fitness business. I’m gonna talk to you about that soon as well.
How To Make Money As A Personal Trainer – Number 1 – Get Money Now
So number one, get money now.
So what I’m not going to focus on is the minutae of the type of content that you need to post. This video is going to focus on where to invest your efforts, depending on where you’re at.
Number one, get money now.
So quite a few of you and there’s no shame in it will be in a situation where you really need to get some money through the door at the minute.
I’ve been in a situation sort of times where I don’t need to worry about long term growth. I need money now to pay my bills. I need money now to eat or I need money now because I want to go on holiday and I’d like to afford it with new income.
Whatever the reasoning sometimes you find yourself in situations where we need to get money through the door. And what’s really frustrating for me a lot of the time, and it’s just because I’m impatient is seeing people focus on the wrong things.
I have personal trainers coming to me, telling me that they’re struggling telling me that they need to get personal training clients through the door ASAP, and then telling me that they’re doing everything they’re growing their email list, building their website
I’m like, why are you building a website? Why are you trying to grow your email list?
You need to grow your personal training client list. That’s it. So the key areas of focus when you need money now and you want to get money now, are as follows.
Number one, your existing personal trianing clients, see what else you could offer them
Do you have an addition to what they’re already paying for?
Can you add on personal training sessions if you’re working with clients on the gym floor? Can you create an event if you have online personal training clients, that is, you know, $50 or hundred dollars or pounds or whatever?
If so, they’re your first port of call.
Because then they’ve already bought into you and what you do so see if you can add further value and sell them more stuff.
The next almost add on to that is reaching out to anybody who’s ever inquired to work with you and any previous personal training clients.
And by the way, these first few steps are the ones that people hate doing. And I’ll talk about the psychology for just a second.
So what can you sell to clients who have already bought from you reach out manually, individually, personally to anybody who’s ever inquired to work with you in the past?
Or who has ever worked with you in the past? Whether it’s doing consultation with you, doing personal trianing sessions with you, filling out an application form, reaching out to you on social media, emailing you, whatever, reach out to every single one of those people manually.
Hey, Jane, are you still looking to lose weight John? If your name’s john, and there name is Jane. Most people don’t do that for a couple of reasons. One, it’s almost too simple, paeople say Yeah, but what else
Right, that’s usually the the response we get.
Yeah, but what else could I be doing? What about this fancy thing? What about this fancy thing, no, sell some more stuff to existing personal training clients.
Reach out to anybody who’s ever inquired with you in the past and sell them some stuff because they’re clearly interested.
So they’re the first ports of call.
Now, if you are on the gym floor, still, there’s another location that you should be investing all your time.
Get people onto your online personal training programme, by speaking to them in person. You’ve got footfall in gyms of people who clearly want exercise advice, or clearly are interested in exercising and your help.
So those three things, often the three things that personal trainers and coaches just don’t want to hear, I don’t want to do those things. Tell me about Instagram. Tell me about hashtags, tell me about email marketing and tell me about follow selling about paid ads?
Yeah, sure. And whilst you focus on those things, you will go broke.
Sometimes it’s a case of you’re not comfortable with it, and I get that because I’ve been there, like the anxiety over selling stuff. I’ve had it.
But the end of the day, what’s more, what was more important to me was putting food on my plate looking after my wife, my dog, paying my bills. And now Ivy, although touch wood haven’t been in that situation since Ivy’s arrived.
So yes, swallow your do the manual tasks that I’ve just mentioned.
Now, there are a few things that you could also be focusing on when it comes to get money now, social media because you have access to an immediate audience for you fitness business. And if you already have an email list, that email list, if you don’t have an email list and don’t focus your time and efforts, trying to build one when you need money, now. Focus your time and efforts on conversations with people who will buy from you not trying to build a list.
So that was getting ready now.
I felt like I just ranted at you.
Let’s move on really quickly.
How To Make Money As A Personal Trainer – Number 2 – Get Money Soon
Number two – Get Money Soon.
So this is when we we aren’t as as desperate.
Actually, I’m going to talk to you soon but tying all this stuff in together. But when we’re not quite as desperate to get some money through the door. Not that you should never lose that hunger, then we can spend our time doing those longer term tasks, slightly longer term, engaging with our audience, planting the seed of what’s to come, building anticipation, getting audience interaction on whatever it is that you’re building up to.
Right so social media is great. doing all the things and get money now is great without actually telling people to buy shit from you right away and pushing too hard because we’re prepping them for something that we’re going to launch in the future.
Building your email list is a good idea. Now, building your audience with paid marketing is a good idea now as well.
So we add on more value based and story based social media, building your email list and building your audience with Facebook ads. That’s it, right?
Obviously, we can build your email list with the Facebook ads as well.
But that’s where your time and efforts should probably be focused in your fitness business during this time.
So, get ready now go and speak to people get money soon start building awareness, anticipation, audience size, and relationships with those new members of the audience and existing members of your audience.
So focus on social media, building an email list, interacting with your email list and interacting with the people that have interacted with you in the past and continuing to market to those people.
How To Make Money As A Personal Trainer – Number 3 – Long term money
Number three, long term money
That’s doing things like what I’m doing right now.
Filming a YouTube video, not only will my personal training audience be coming visit this video that I already have, but exists on YouTube forever.
And as long as I do the things I meant to do to optimise it, then it will, there is compounding positive effects of it because the audience that will watch it will grow over time, which does not happen on social media, right?
Post that and then a piece of content is usually dead within a week, if not 48 hours.
So that’s when we do everything in the previous two steps in our personal training business. Plus we create content that compounds in value for us and our personal trianing business over time.
YouTube videos, writing blog articles, that’s about it.
The reality is, we should push to do all those three things in our fitness business and to get more personal trianing clients all the time.
Now. The reality is, we don’t all have time to do that. Show up. gonna fly. Now as a straight up lie, I just lied to you and to myself on camera, this is going to exist forever.
We all have time, we just don’t prioritise very well or manage our time very well I have a big fitness business and yeah, I’m here spending time filming a YouTube video, that 10 to 9 on Friday morning before my day starts.
So we do have time when running a personal trianing business or a fitness business of any kind, it just making sure that you prioritise for what situation you are in now is the reality that you just need to push for clients through the door for the next few weeks.
Fine, just focus on getting money now, but just know at some point, those tactics are going to cannibalise them. So you’re gonna cannibalise your audience, they’re going to become numb to your efforts.
So there has to be some long term plan involved to add people to that audience to add more value to that audience, because we can’t just Push, Push Push to sell every day.
So, yes, try and get personal trianing clients every day, whilst building up to things that maybe provide you with a big influx of income and revenue and clients into your fitness business in the next few weeks and months.
And be aware about certain things have longer term impact and can compound in value for you and your fitness business over time, like creating long form video for YouTube, like writing articles and optimising for SEO so that they rank well in search, and don’t listen to people who tell you that writing blogs are dead or YouTube videos are dead or websites aren’t necessary.
Of course they are they all have their place.
